Matthias Kronfuss is a multi-disciplinary theatre designer based in Vienna, Austria. A trained graphic designer running his own studio since 2007, Matthias continued to enrich his artistic practice by working as a photographer and theatre designer. He gained experience as a scenographer in the London-based studio of renowned Canadian set designer Michael Levine, whom he continues to assist on opera productions in Austria and abroad. As an assistant, he has worked at world-class opera venues such as the Vienna State Opera (Madama Butterfly, 2020), Theater an der Wien (Die Zauberflöte. 2017; Guillaume Tell, 2018), Bayerische Staatsoper (Das Schlaue Füchslein, 2022; Semele, 2023) and Bregenz Festival (Madame Butterfly, 2022).
