Passion and anger, secrets and intrigues, struggle for power and love. Success accompanied "Il trovatore" from the first production in Rome. The Tiber River, which overflowed its banks and flooded the streets near the Apollo Theater, did not stop the public from wanting to hear Verdi's new opera. From early morning a large crowd besieged the doors of the theatre. The performance caused general enthusiasm. With triumphant success, Il trovatore was soon staged in Paris, London, St. Petersburg and other European cities.

The opera gained fame, recognition and love thanks to its inexhaustible melodic richness. It was music full of passion, anger, ardent anguish, and sometimes the most tender, sublime lyrics that won her immense popularity.
