THE PROJECT
A Midsummer Night's Dream is one of the most celebrated plays by the English playwright William Shakespeare. Written around 1595 it was immediately a huge success. In the Romantic era, the Shakespearean Dream was also a source of inspiration in the musical field. In this regard, an important contribution was given by the German composer Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy who wrote a series of descriptive musical pages (including the famous Wedding March) to be included during the recitation, thus enriching the structure of the story.
The Municipal Theater of Piacenza presents a double masterpiece that relates acting and music by two authors of global importance: Shakespeare and Mendelsshon. The proposed project is enriched by an important interpretative textual line that will act as a link between the different expressive languages. The didactic purpose is to encourage active listening to classical music, its timbres, its colors, its intrinsic emotions and, at the same time, to become familiar with the duly adapted Shakespearean poetics.

IL PROGETTO
Il Sogno di una notte di mezza estate è una delle commedie teatrali più celebri del drammaturgo inglese William Shakespeare. Scritta intorno al 1595 ebbe da subito un enorme successo. In epoca romantica il Sogno shakespeariano fu motivo di ispirazione anche in ambito musicale. A tal proposito un importante contributo lo diede il compositore tedesco Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy che scrisse una serie di pagine musicali di carattere descrittivo (tra cui la celeberrima Marcia nuziale) da inserire durante la recitazione arricchendone in tal modo l’impianto della vicenda.
Il Teatro Municipale di Piacenza presenta un duplice capolavoro che mette in relazione recitazione e musica ad opera di due autori di importanza mondiale: Shakespeare e Mendelsshon. Il progetto proposto si arricchisce di un’importante linea testuale interpretativa che farà da tramite fra i diversi linguaggi espressivi. La finalità didattica è quella di incentivare l’ascolto attivo della musica classica, dei suoi timbri, dei suoi colori, delle sue intrinseche emozioni e, al contempo, di prendere confidenza con la poetica shakespeariana debitamente adattata.
