Историями про доктора Дулиттла, сочинёнными англичанином Хью Лофтингом, уже сто лет зачитываются дети всего мира. Книги Х. Лофтинга издаются на многих языках, не теряя при переводе своей прелести и занимательности для юных читателей. Герой этих историй — смешной и добрый доктор, лечащий животных, — знаком и нашим читателям. И не только как доктор Дулиттл, но и как Айболит. Именно так назвал его Корней Чуковский, сделавший вольное переложение сочинений Лофтинга.
К творчеству Лофтинга обратились и создатели нового приключенческого мюзикла для сцены «Зазеркалья». (Эта творческая группа уже хорошо знакома зрителям по спектаклю «Белый клык».)
В какие только переделки не попали Дулиттл и его друзья-животные! Кто только не повстречался на их пути! И страшные пираты, и благородные дельфины, и жуткие дикари, и грустный Тяни-Толкай. Друзья испытали шторм, чуть не были съеденными, побывали в плену и в цирке. И, конечно, доктор и его команда сделали всё, чтобы африканская экспедиция увенчалась успехом, и бедные мартышки были спасены.
И всё это потому, что у доктора Дулиттла хотя «денег немного, но есть сердце, в котором тревога, надежда и вера, и доблесть, и честь

Children all over the world have been reading stories about Doctor Dolittle, written by the Englishman Hugh Lofting, for a hundred years now. H. Lofting's books are published in many languages, without losing their charm and entertainment for young readers in translation. The hero of these stories - a funny and kind doctor who treats animals - is also familiar to our readers. And not only as Doctor Dolittle, but also as Aibolit. This is exactly what Korney Chukovsky called it, who made a free transcription of Lofting’s works.
The creators of the new adventure musical for the stage of “Through the Looking Glass” also turned to Lofting’s work. (This creative group is already well known to the audience from the play “White Fang”.)
What kind of troubles did Dolittle and his animal friends get into! Who didn’t they meet on their way! And scary pirates, and noble dolphins, and creepy savages, and the sad Pull-Push. The friends experienced a storm, were almost eaten, were captured and in the circus. And, of course, the doctor and his team did everything to ensure that the African expedition was a success and the poor monkeys were saved.
And all this because Doctor Dolittle, although “he doesn’t have much money, but has a heart in which there is anxiety, hope and faith, and valor and honor”!
