«Никогда не забудутся исполнения на Страстную Пятницу «Смерти Иисуса» Грауна. Они были подобны богослужению. Утром прихожане отправлялись к причастию, вечером же приходили - как на праздничное богослужение – в Певческую Академию. Публика была одета в черное, как и певчие. Это было величественное зрелище – искрящийся огнями прекрасный зал, оркестр и ряды певцов, и бесчисленные слушатели, в благоговейной тишине ожидавшие начала. И когда вдруг – как из единых уст – раздавались первые слова хорала «Ты, чьи глаза влажны» - не было поистине ни одного сердца, не охваченного священным трепетом в этот возвышенный миг...»


Так описывает очевидец воздействие на берлинскую публику кантаты К. Г. Грауна «Смерть Иисуса», которая – начиная с 1755 года – ежегодно исполнялась в Берлине на Страстную пятницу на протяжении почти 75 лет. Музыка эта звучала не только в немецких протестантских землях – ей внимали в Риме и Лондоне, Вене и Копенгагене, Стокгольме и Петербурге. Можно смело сказать, что в европейской музыке 2-й половины XVIII – 1-й половины XIX веков трудно найти сочинение, которое бы столь восторженно принималось несколькими поколениями европейских – и в первую очередь – немецких слушателей.
В Беларуси кантата Грауна не звучала никогда. Тем привлекательней возможность услышать ее для всех тех, кому интересны великие, несправедливо забытые страницы музыкальной культуры, кому небезразличен духовный опыт прошлых поколений.
23 марта, накануне Страстной недели, кантата Грауна «Смерть Иисуса» прозвучит в Большом концертном зале Белорусской Государственной филармонии в исполнении Государственного камерного хора (художественный руководитель – Наталья Михайлова) и ансамбля «Камерные солисты Минска». Солисты – ведущие певцы Национальной Оперы Беларуси Диана Трифонова, Алексей Микутель и Илья Сильчуков, а также известная певица из Германии Мехтильд Бах.
Дирижер – Дмитрий Зубов.
Концерт проводится при поддержке Посольства Федеративной Республики Германия в Беларуси.

“The Good Friday performances of Graun's Death of Jesus will never be forgotten. They were like worship. In the morning, parishioners went to communion, but in the evening they came - as if to a festive divine service - to the Singing Academy. The audience was dressed in black, as were the singers. It was a majestic sight - a beautiful hall sparkling with lights, an orchestra and rows of singers, and countless listeners, in reverent silence, waiting for the beginning. And when suddenly - as if from a single mouth - the first words of the chorale “You, whose eyes are wet” were heard - there was truly not a single heart that was not seized with sacred awe at this sublime moment ... "


This is how an eyewitness describes the impact on the Berlin public of the cantata “The Death of Jesus” by C. G. Graun, which – since 1755 – was performed annually in Berlin on Good Friday for almost 75 years. This music sounded not only in the German Protestant lands - it was listened to in Rome and London, Vienna and Copenhagen, Stockholm and St. Petersburg. We can safely say that in European music of the 2nd half of the 18th - 1st half of the 19th centuries it is difficult to find a work that would be so enthusiastically received by several generations of European - and primarily German listeners.
Graun's cantata has never been heard in Belarus. The more attractive is the opportunity to hear it for all those who are interested in the great, unfairly forgotten pages of musical culture, who are not indifferent to the spiritual experience of past generations.
On March 23 , on the eve of Holy Week, Graun's cantata "Death of Jesus" will be performed in the Great Concert Hall of the Belarusian State Philharmonic by the State Chamber Choir (artistic director - Natalya Mikhailova ) and the ensemble "Chamber Soloists of Minsk" . The soloists are the leading singers of the National Opera of Belarus Diana Trifonova , Aleksey Mikutel and Ilya Silchukov , as well as the famous German singer Mechtild Bach .
