The story of Carmen is universal and fascinating.

Seville in summer. A melting pot in the truest sense of the word. It is hot! people meet. Spaniards and tourists. Locals and foreigners who ended up here. Some want to stay forever, find a home. Others continue to search tirelessly.

Carmen, Yussef, Malak.

Although they are still very young, they carry their fate around with them as a heavy burden. But they are also looking for happiness and lightness.

The young German elite student Carmen is willing to fight for her freedom ruthlessly so that she will never be hurt again.

And Yussef, who is called José here in Seville? – He also wants to forget, wants to determine his own fate. Not even sweet Malak, Micaela in Spanish, the angel Yussef was betrothed to by his Moroccan family from an early age, brings him back his peace.

The meeting of these people in Seville triggers further strokes of fate, in which Camillo - Escamillo - a sports student at Carmen's university, is also involved. However, he will not perish because of it, while Carmen and José cannot escape their fate in the end. – As in Mérimée's famous novel, as in Bizet's opera and as one would expect in a love story about a woman like Carmen. For all times, Carmen's story will end like this...

Carmen is not sacrificed, she does not redeem anyone and is not redeemed. Mythical motifs manifest themselves in her story, in dark harmony with antiquity and Christianity. Her name already refers to this. Carmen – Latin song and magic.

Carmen's passion is reminiscent of Antigone's death in the rock grave or Isolde's love death: a death that is not desired or acknowledged per amorem fati, but is simply achieved, like the goal of a path.
