At Pentecost, the English celebrate the Queen's "Platinum Jubilee". 70 years ago Handel's mighty coronation anthem “Zadok the priest” was sung in Westminster Abbey at her anointing. Father Philipp Meyer conducts it on the Sunday before the Assumption of the Virgin Mary in the Maria Laach Abbey Church. Handel's four "Coronation Anthems" and the Te Deum by the Bohemian Jan Dismas Zelenka ensure maximum baroque splendor under the Romanesque vaults. The exquisite Cappella Laccensis will be expanded to include the RheinVokal project choir and a baroque orchestra. The choir sings "Long live the Queen" with fervor, which can also be related to the Queen of Heaven.

An Pfingsten feiern die Engländer das „Platinum Jubilee“ der Queen. Vor 70 Jahren erklang zu ihrer Salbung in der Westminster Abtei Händels gewaltiges Krönungsanthem „Zadok the priest“. Pater Philipp Meyer dirigiert es am Sonntag vor Mariä Himmelfahrt in der Abteikirche Maria Laach. Die vier „Coronation Anthems“ von Händel und das Te Deum des Böhmen Jan Dismas Zelenka sorgen für ein Maximum an barocker Prachtentfaltung unter den romanischen Gewölben. Dafür wird die exquisite Cappella Laccensis um den RheinVokal-Projektchor und ein Barockorchster erweitert. „Long live the Queen“ singt der Chor voller Inbrunst, was man auch auf die Himmelskönigin beziehen darf.
