Johann Strauss ml.  - Cikánský baron - opereta, Slezské divadlo Opava

25. června 2017 od 19 hod. uvede operní soubor premiéru jedné z nejuváděnějších operet – Cikánský baron – desátou operetu Johanna Strausse mladšího. Premiéru měla 24. října 1885 v Divadle na Vídeňce. Libreto napsal Ignatz Schnitzer podle povídky Saffi od Móra Jókaie. Libretista Schnitzer upravil příběh, zvýraznil hlavní mužskou postavu, posílil cikánské a vojenské prvky. Opereta poukazovala na boj za habsburský panovnický rod, na vítězství a také odměnu bojovníkům. Tato témata byla žhavá i v době premiéry. Rakousko zavedlo všeobecnou vojenskou povinnost a docházelo k semknutí vládnoucích tříd Rakouska a Uherska. Strauss cítil při psaní tohoto díla také jakousi politickou odpovědnost. V dopise libretistovi napsal: „Vstupní pochod musí být velkolepý, vždyť tu zobrazujeme rakouské vojsko a lid v radostné náladě nad dobytým vítězstvím!“ Příznivci operety především oceňují pestrost situací, výrazovou škálu hudebních témat, lyrické emoce. Operetní hity Cikánský baron jsem já!, Kdo nás oddal?, kvalitní libreto a skvělá kompozice valčíkových melodií zaručily ohromný úspěch díla až do dnešní doby.

Strauss ml. (25. 10. 1825 – 3. 6. 1899) se narodil ve Vídni v rodině slavného dirigenta populárního orchestru Johanna Strausse staršího. Nejprve se učil na housle a později koncertoval po světě s orchestrem svého otce, který po jeho smrti převzal a s nímž slavil později velké úspěchy. Za svého života Johann Strauss napsal něco okolo 500 skladeb, mimo jiné je autorem známých operet, které hrají operetní i operní soubory po celém světě – Netopýr, Vídeňská krev, Tisíc a jedna noc, Královnin krajkový šátek, Rytíř Pásmán, Noc v Benátkách atd. Byl také označován za „Krále valčíků“. Mezi nejznámější patří Císařský valčík a Na krásném modrém Dunaji. Jeho polky, např. Trič Trač Polka a Annenská polka, patří k nejhranějším skladbám. Díky Straussovi se taneční hudba stala skutečným uměním.

Hlavním hrdinou operetního příběhu Cikánský baron je mladý šlechtic Šándor Bárinkay, který po létech vyhnanství přichází převzít majetek a pozemky po svých předcích.  Bohatý prasečkář Koloman Župan se Šándorovi vysmívá, protože pozemky jsou bezcenné a součástí dědictví je cikánská vesnice.  Bárinkay požádá Župana o ruku jeho dcery Arseny, ale i ta se mu vysměje – takového chudáka nechce, její nastávající musí nejméně baron! Cikáni ze vsi si zvolí Šándora za svého vůdce. Šándor se zamiluje do cikánské dívky Žofky (Saffi), se kterou se po cikánském způsobu ožení. Na starém hradě spolu najdou starý turecký poklad po předcích Šándora. Župan požaduje, aby poklad byl úředně zabaven. Mezitím však vypukne válka a do vesnice přijíždí verbovat vojáky plukovník husarského pluku hrabě Homonay. Čipra, stará cikánka, oznámí a dokumentem doloží skutečný původ Žofky – je tureckou princeznou a dědičkou pokladu!  Šándor je zmatený, protože Žofku miloval jako prostou a chudou dívku. Nechá se v čele svých věrných cikánů naverbovat k husarům. Po válce je Šándor za své bojové zásluhy jmenován baronem. Tím se stal pro Žofku rovnocenným partnerem a jejich láska nemá překážky.

On June 25, 2017, from 7 p.m., the opera company will present the premiere of one of the most popular operettas - The Gypsy Baron - the tenth operetta by Johann Strauss the Younger. It had its premiere on October 24, 1885 at the Theater in Vienna. The libretto was written by Ignatz Schnitzer based on the story by Saffiby Mór Jókai. Librettist Schnitzer adapted the story, highlighted the main male character, strengthened the gypsy and military elements. The operetta pointed to the fight for the Habsburg royal family, the victory and also the reward for the fighters. These topics were hot even at the time of the premiere. Austria introduced general military service and the ruling classes of Austria and Hungary were collapsing. Strauss also felt a kind of political responsibility in writing this work. In a letter to the librettist, he wrote: "The entrance march must be spectacular, after all, here we are depicting the Austrian army and the people in a joyful mood over the victory!" Fans of the operetta especially appreciate the variety of situations, the expressive range of musical themes, and lyrical emotions. Operetta hits The gypsy baron is me!, Who gave us away?, a high-quality libretto and a great composition of waltz melodies guaranteed the great success of the work to this day.

Strauss Jr. (25/10/1825 – 3/6/1899) was born in Vienna in the family of the famous popular orchestra conductor Johann Strauss the Elder. He first learned the violin and later toured the world with his father's orchestra, which he took over after his death and with which he later celebrated great success. During his lifetime, Johann Strauss wrote around 500 compositions, among other things he is the author of well-known operettas that are played by operetta and opera companies all over the world - The Bat, The Blood of Vienna, One Thousand and One Nights, The Queen's Lace Shawl, The Knight in the Belt, Night in Venice, etc. He was also referred to as the "Waltz King". The most famous ones include The Imperial Waltz and On the Beautiful Blue Danube . His polkas, e.g. Trič Trač Polka and Annenská polka,belongs to the most played songs. Thanks to Strauss, dance music became a real art.

The protagonist of the operetta story Gypsy Baronis the young nobleman Šándor Bárinkay, who after years of exile comes to take over the property and lands of his ancestors. The rich piggery Koloman Župan mocks Sándor because the land is worthless and part of the inheritance is a gypsy village. Bárinkay asks Župan for his daughter Arsena's hand in marriage, but she also laughs at him - she doesn't want such a poor man, her bride-to-be must at least be a baron! Gypsies from the village elect Sándor as their leader. Sándor falls in love with the gypsy girl Žofka (Saffi), whom he marries in the gypsy way. Together they find an old Turkish treasure from Sándor's ancestors in the old castle. The robe demands that the treasure be officially confiscated. In the meantime, however, a war breaks out and the colonel of the hussar regiment, Count Homonay, comes to the village to recruit soldiers. Čipra, an old gypsy woman, announces and documents Žofka's true origin - she is a Turkish princess and heir to a treasure! Sándor is confused because he loved Žofka as a simple and poor girl. He allows himself to be recruited into the hussars at the head of his loyal gypsies. After the war, Sándor is named a baron for his fighting merits. This made him an equal partner for Žofka, and their love has no obstacles.
