The Bat's Revenge is, above all, a masterpiece, legally belonging to the treasury of the opera repertoire, although it was also the pinnacle of the operetta theater in its time.

Currently, the operetta as a genre has already experienced a bit and is evolving towards a musical, yet Zemsta batie remains a brilliant work, enchanting in its freshness and musical richness, which works well as an operatic and theatrical piece at the same time. Besides, the work gained such an opinion even when the operetta theater was still unparalleled in popularity.

The great composer and conductor Gustaw Mahler chose Revenge of the Bat himselfand conducted it as early as the 1880s, and when he became director of the Vienna Opera, he included it in the opera repertoire.

Zemsta nietoperza to przede wszystkim arcydzieło, zupełnie legalnie należące do skarbnicy repertuaru operowego, choć w swoim czasie było to również szczytowe osiągnięcie teatru operetkowego.

Obecnie operetka jako genre nieco się już przeżyła i ewoluuje raczej w kierunku musicalu, a jednak Zemsta nietoperza pozostaje dziełem genialnym, urzekającym w swej świeżości i bogactwie muzycznym, sprawdzającym się jako utwór operowy i teatralny zarazem. Zresztą dzieło zyskało sobie taką właśnie opinię nawet wówczas, kiedy teatr operetkowy cieszył się jeszcze niezrównaną popularnością.

Wielki kompozytor i dyrygent Gustaw Mahler sam wybrał Zemstę nietoperza i dyrygował nią już w latach osiemdziesiątych XIX w., a kiedy objął dyrekcję Opery Wiedeńskiej, włączył ją do repertuaru operowego.
