In the year marking the 150th anniversary of the birth of Franz Lehar, the Madlenianum Opera and Theater staged his most famous operetta, The Merry Widow . The last time the Merry Widow was played in Belgrade was in 1979, and before that in 1965.

The comic story about the rich widow Hani Glavari and the attempts of her compatriots to find her a new husband, but such that her inherited wealth remains in the principality of Montenegro, is a favorite all over the world. 
In the first 60 years of its performance, it was staged about 500,000 times. No other play or musical enjoyed such international commercial success until the 1960s as The Merry Widow . That is why it is no wonder that she is called the queen of operetta!

Retaining the charm of the original story, we created a version that additionally plays with the modern dynamics of theater storytelling, brings new scenes and enhances the cabaret atmosphere, while leaving the work suitable for all generations looking for laughter, good music and dance.

Franz Lehar's superb music, beautiful and memorable melodies that are classics of musical theater, breathtaking choreographic songs, sharp and hilarious dialogues and situations, colorful characters, gorgeous costumes and monumental scenography - all this is part of this cultural delicacy in which he holds the baton Vesna Šouc Tričković , and the director is Robert Bošković . The scenography is by Vesna Režić , the costume design by Duško Nešić , and the choreographyMilica Cerovic . Igor Weidlich (Weidlich) was in charge  of dramaturgy, translation and adaptation of the text .
