"The Merry Widow" was first performed in Vienna in 1905, and Helmuth Lohner staged it in Mörbisch to mark the 100th STAGE ANNIVERSARY. It is the most performed stage work of this genre. A wealth of melodic ideas was cleverly instrumented in this stage work: "I'm going to the Maxim", the "Viljalied", "Yes, the study of women is difficult" and "Lips are silent".
The Mörbischer "Widow" is conducted by Rudolf Bibl, the choreography comes from Giorgio Madia. Traditionally, Rolf Langenfass is responsible for the stage design and costumes. Harald Serafin (Baron Mirko Zeta), Margarita de Arello (Hanna Glawari) and Mathias Hausmann (Graf Danilo Danilowitsch) play the leading roles. "The Merry Widow", premiered in 1905 at the Theater an der Wien, is probably one of Franz Lehar's most successful operettas. The story of the extremely wealthy Hanna Glawari not only inspired Europe, America also succumbed to the "Merry Widow" fever through the abundance of musical ideas, the Parisian piquancy with Balkan influences and the colorful bouquet of waltzes, polka, colo, polonaise and mazurka. And last but not least, the melodies "I'm going to Maxim"
