At the end of his long life, Joseph Haydn wrote two important oratorio works - Creation and the Four Seasons, which belong not only to his top compositions, but to the best that was written in oratorio literature at the time. The Creation Oratorio, which we will present in concert, was created in 1798 on the libretto of Baron Gottfried van Swieten.

It is an epic account of the creation of the world, with the archangels Gabriel, Uriel and Rafael telling in detail how God proceeded in the creation of the world in seven days. In the last part, the grandparents of all mankind, Adam and Eve, spend happy days in paradise. Solo singing is alternated in the oratorio with demanding choirs, inspired by the great oratorios of Georg Friedrich Händel.

The oratory Creation that will be staged as a concert was composed in 1798 following the libretto of Baron Gottfried van Swieten. It is an epic story of the creation of the world in which the archangels Gabriel, Uriel, and Raphael provide detailed recollection of God’s acts of creating the world in seven days. In the last part the parents of all mankind, Adam and Eve, spend happy days in paradise. Solo songs alternate with sophisticated choirs inspired by the grand oratories of Georg Friedrich Händel.
