Technically complex and notoriously difficult to play, these stunning pieces for piano, violin and cello are also deeply moving and emotional. Written at the outbreak of World War I and reportedly inspired by a traditional Basque dance tune, the irregular time signatures and elusive melodies are utterly absorbing. This intimate and immersive evening will feature a series of duets between the players, culminating in the trio for all three. Members of the Orchestra will perform ‘in the round’ giving the audience a unique chance to get close up the music.
