Celliste Doris Hochscheid en pianist Frans van Ruth breken onder de titel Dutch Cello Sonatas al jaren een lans voor Nederlandse muziek. Op het label Audiomax verscheen een serie cd’s van het duo met werken van uiteenlopende componisten als Vermeulen, Escher en Pijper. Voor hun inspanningen ontvingen de musici een prestigieuze ECHO Klassik-award. In Muzis zetten Hochscheid en van Ruth hun missie op het podium onvermoeibaar voort. Centraal in dit programma staan twee gloednieuwe composities: Movements van Lucas Wiegerink (1985) en Triund van Wilma Pistorius (1991). De componisten hebben duidelijk verschillende invalshoeken, maar de stukken hebben iets gemeenschappelijks: een in de muziek aanwezige theatraliteit wordt in de ruimte naar buiten gebracht. Hochscheid en Van Ruth vragen levende componisten vaak met welke muziek zij in een programma het liefst gecombineerd worden. Beide componisten zijn bij het concert aanwezig om zowel deze keuzes al s hun eigen stukken toe te lichten.

Cellist Doris Hochscheid and pianist Frans van Ruth have been championing Dutch music for years under the title Dutch Cello Sonatas . A series of CDs by the duo has been released on the Audiomax label, featuring works by composers as diverse as Vermeulen, Escher and Pijper. The musicians received a prestigious ECHO Klassik award for their efforts. In Muzis, Hochscheid and van Ruth tirelessly continue their mission on stage. Central to this program are two brand new compositions: Movements by Lucas Wiegerink (1985) andTriund by Wilma Pistorius (1991). The composers clearly have different perspectives, but the pieces have something in common: a theatricality present in the music is brought out in the space. Hochscheid and Van Ruth often ask living composers with which music they prefer to be combined in a programme. Both composers will be present at the concert to explain these choices as well as their own pieces.
