Jana Kurucová má „…okrem prirodzenej krásy a plastickosti svojho mezzosopránu hlboký zmysel pre detaily výrazu a v neposlednom rade kresbu až éterických oblúkov…“ napísal Pavol Unger v kritike na jej interpretáciu piesní z Mahlerovho cyklu Chlapcov zázračný roh. Skúsenú interpretku, ktorú na našom pódiu sporadicky vidíme vo veľkých vokálnoinštrumentálnych dielach, budete môcť tento raz počuť v komornejšej polohe. Prichádza so štyrmi unikátnymi cyklami, ktoré na Slovensku počujeme len ojedinele. Štyri piesne Antonína Dvořáka z Rukopisu královédvorského predstavujú prelom v jeho kompozičnom myslení, odklon od nemeckého novoromantizmu. Piesne Almy Mahler, manželky slávneho skladateľa a dirigenta, sú tajomné tak, ako aj ich stvoriteľka. Štyri piesne Arnolda Schönberga na texty Richarda Dehmela pochádzajú z tranzitného obdobia postupného sa vzďaľovania od tonality. Básne Haľamovej, Rúfusa a Krausa zhudobnil Ivan Hrušovský. „…meditatívnosť, charakteristická pre všetkých troch básnikov, reflektívnosť, prejavujúca sa sugestívnymi symbolmi a hlboká lyrickosť. Tieto znaky mali vplyv aj na voľbu tempa piesní, formovanie vokálneho partu a najmä na kontakt vokálnej zložky s klavírnou,“ napísal do bulletinu k premiére v roku 1989 autor.

You will be able to hear the experienced performer this time, who is sporadically seen on our stage in large vocal-instrumental works, in a more intimate setting. She comes with four unique cycles, which are heard only rarely in Slovakia. Antonín Dvořák’s Four Songs with lyrics from the Dvůr Králové Manuscript, Op. 7 represent a breakthrough in his compositional thinking, a departure from German neo-romanticism. The songs of Alma Mahler, wife of the famous composer and conductor, are as mysterious as their creator. Arnold Schoenberg‘s Vier Lieder to texts by Richard Dehmel come from a transitional period of gradual departure from tonality. Ivan Hrušovský set to music the poems of Haľamová, Rúfus and Kraus. “…meditativeness, characteristic of all three poets, reflectiveness expressed through suggestive symbols, and deep lyricism. These characteristics influenced the choice of tempo in the songs, the formation of the vocal part, and especially the interaction between the vocal component and the piano,” wrote the author in the bulletin for the premiere in 1989.
