Co by to bylo za velikonoční čas bez duchovního rozjímání. Dvořákovo Stabat mater je jedna z nejsilnějších orchestrálních skladeb. U nás i ve světě se jí dostává podobného ohlasu, jako velkým dílům mistrů Händela, Haydna nebo Beethovena. Je to dílo, které by měl alespoň jednou naživo slyšet každý milovník hudby. Vedle barevné instrumentace, velkolepé práce s hlasy a náboženského příběhu nabízí i dnes nesmírnou hloubku. Jako by Panna Marie netruchlila jen za svého syna, ale i za tři děti Dvořákovy, o které v době psaní tohoto díla krátce po sobě přišel. A právě tato životní zkušenost Dvořákovo zpracování Stabat mater povýšila nad všechna zpracování před ním i po něm, podobně jako u Mozartova Requiem.

What would the Easter season be without spiritual contemplation. Dvořák's Stabat Mater is one of the strongest orchestral compositions. In our country and around the world, it receives a similar response as the great works of the masters Handel, Haydn or Beethoven. It is a work that every music lover should hear live at least once. In addition to colorful instrumentation, spectacular voice work and a religious story, it still offers immense depth today. As if the Virgin Mary was not only grieving for her son, but also for Dvořák's three children, whom he lost in short succession at the time of writing this work. And it was this life experience that elevated Dvořák's treatment of the Stabat mater above all the treatments before and after it, similar to Mozart's Requiem.
