Elisso Virsaladze è cresciuta in una famiglia di Tblisi, Georgia, che per generazioni ha partecipato attivamente alla vita culturale e artistica del Paese. Ha iniziato lo studio del pianoforte con la nonna, la prof.ssa Anastasia Virsaladze; quindi, dopo gli studi nel locale Conservatorio, lasciava la città natale e si trasferiva a Mosca. A vent’anni conquistava il terzo premio nel celebre Concorso Tchaikovsky.
A Mosca proseguiva quindi gli studi sotto la guida di Heinrich Neuhaus e Yakov Zak. Questi insegnanti di grandissimo talento, oltre ad influire profondamente sullo sviluppo artistico di Elisso, la immergevano nella rinomata tradizione pedagogica della scuola pianistica russa. Non sorprende, pertanto, che Elisso sia oggi considerata un’insegnante straordinaria e che i suoi studenti abbiano ottenuto riconoscimenti tra i più importanti nei concorsi internazionali. Elisso Virsaladze insegna regolarmente al Conservatorio di Mosca e alla Munich Musikhochschule, ed ha partecipato come membro della giuria a pressoché tutti i più importanti concorsi internazionali: Santander, Geza Anda di Zurigo e Rubinstein di Tel Aviv, e sicuramente il Tchaikovsky e il Richter.

Elisso Virsaladze coltiva con cura la sua grande passione per i compositori del tardo diciottesimo e del diciannovesimo secolo. Le sue interpretazioni storiche e più esemplari, lontane da ogni esibizionismo tastieristico e dedite integralmente alla poesia del canto e del colore, riguardano soprattutto autori come Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin, Liszt e soprattutto Schumann. A ventiquattro anni, vinceva il primo premio al Concorso Schumann di Zwickau, facendola immediatamente annoverare dalla stampa internazionale tra i più grandi interpreti schumanniani contemporanei. Lo stesso Sviatoslav Richter dirà di lei: “...il suo Schumann non ha eguali”. Ma del resto, la pianista annovera un vasto repertorio, che si estende fino a comprendere i compositori russi moderni e contemporanei. L’Unione Sovietica le ha attribuito le massime onorificenze artistiche.

Elisso Virsaladze si esibisce regolarmente in sale importanti e in centri musicali come Londra, Milano, Roma, Parigi, Lisbona, Berlino e Barcellona; tiene tuttora numerosi concerti in duo con la violoncellista Natalia Gutman in città come Vienna, Berlino, Bruxelles, Madrid, Monaco, Milano, Ginevra e Losanna, solo per citare le principali città europee. In ambito cameristico e con orchestre quali la Petersburg Philharmonic e la Royal Philharmonia London ha effettuato ampie tournée nel Nord America, in Giappone e in Europa. Elisso Virsaladze appare inoltre regolarmente con prestigiose orchestre in Francia, Germania, Italia, Spagna, Svizzera, Stati Uniti e in altri Paesi.

Collabora regolarmente con direttori d’orchestra tra i più prestigiosi, quali Rudolf Barshai, Kyrill Kondrashin, Riccardo Muti, Kurt Sanderling, Wolfgang Sawallisch, Evgeny Svetlanov, Yury Temirkanov o Antoni Wit – per nominarne solo alcuni.
La stagione 2017/2018 è composta come sempre da recital come solista, concerti con l’orchestra, musica da camera - in Germania, Georgia, Italia, Giappone, Portogallo, Russia, Spagna, Asia e Sud America - masterclasses (es. Fiesole, Salisburgo, Tokyo) e sarà membro della giuria nei concorsi di Rio de Janeiro, Thessaloniki, Tel Aviv e Bratislava.

Elisso Virsaladze grew up in a family from Tblisi, Georgia, which for generations has actively participated in the cultural and artistic life of the country. You began studying the piano with your grandmother, Prof. Anastasia Virsaladze; so she, after studying at the local Conservatory, left her hometown and moved to Moscow. At the age of twenty you won the third prize in the famous Tchaikovsky Competition.
In Moscow he then continued his studies under the guidance of Heinrich Neuhaus and Yakov Zak. These extremely talented teachers, as well as profoundly influencing Elisso's artistic development, immersed her in the renowned pedagogical tradition of the Russian piano school. It is therefore not surprising that Elisso is today considered an extraordinary teacher and that her students have obtained some of the most important recognitions in international competitions. Elisso Virsaladze teaches regularly at the Moscow Conservatory and at the Munich Musikhochschule, and has participated as a member of the jury in almost all the most important international competitions: Santander, Geza Anda in Zurich and Rubinstein in Tel Aviv, and certainly the Tchaikovsky and the Richter.

Elisso Virsaladze carefully cultivates his great passion for late eighteenth and nineteenth century composers. His historical and most exemplary interpretations, far from any keyboard exhibitionism and wholly dedicated to the poetry of song and colour, concern above all authors such as Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin, Liszt and above all Schumann. At twenty-four, he won first prize at the Schumann Competition in Zwickau, immediately making her counted by the international press among the greatest contemporary Schumann interpreters. Sviatoslav Richter himself would say of her: “... her Schumann has no equal”. But then, the pianist has a vast repertoire, which extends to include modern and contemporary Russian composers. The Soviet Union awarded her the highest artistic honors.

Elisso Virsaladze performs regularly in important halls and musical centers such as London, Milan, Rome, Paris, Lisbon, Berlin and Barcelona; he still holds numerous concerts in duo with the cellist Natalia Gutman in cities such as Vienna, Berlin, Brussels, Madrid, Munich, Milan, Geneva and Lausanne, just to mention the main European cities. In chamber music and with orchestras such as the Petersburg Philharmonic and the Royal Philharmonia London he has toured extensively in North America, Japan and Europe. Elisso Virsaladze also appears regularly with prestigious orchestras in France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, the United States and other countries.

He regularly collaborates with leading conductors such as Rudolf Barshai, Kyrill Kondrashin, Riccardo Muti, Kurt Sanderling, Wolfgang Sawallisch, Evgeny Svetlanov, Yury Temirkanov or Antoni Wit – to name just a few.
