There's a lot going on in bourgeois Windsor! A true anarchist, who wants nothing to do with bourgeois morality, has stayed at the “Zum Hosenbande” inn: Sir John Falstaff. The fat, sly knight loves life, women and a good drop of wine. However, there is a small problem: his pockets are empty and somehow the lust for life and alcohol has to be financed! But Falstaff wouldn't be Falstaff if he didn't have a solution: he sent two women identical love letters in order to cheat them out of their money. However, he did not reckon with the cleverness of the witty ladies and their friends, who know how to turn Falstaff's dream of money and love adventures into a nightmare. 52 years after the ignominious success of his first comic opera and countless successful works such as "La Traviata", "Rigoletto" and "Aida", the almost 80-year-old Giuseppe Verdi set about composing the comedy "Falstaff". The premiere of this real ensemble opera, which knows how to convey the fun and wit of the performers directly to the audience, was a huge success in 1893. With "Falstaff" the audience encounters a completely new Verdi, nothing of melancholy and drama, but pure zest for life and fun with humor. The performance will be in German.
