Als er den Altmeister im Hauskonzert mit den Früchten seiner Mühen überrascht, nennt dieser ihn den größten ihm bekannten Komponisten. In Konkurrenz um die Gunst des celloaffinen Friedrich Wilhelm II. sollten die befreundeten Genies mit ihren »Preußischen Quartetten« dem Genre bald darauf noch mehr Sternstunden bescheren. Das Quatuor Cambini-Paris spielt auf Instrumenten der Entstehungszeit und schöpft den Sound der Wiener Klassik frisch aus der Quelle.

In order to keep up with the innovative quartet artistry of Haydn, the young Mozart had to give his all and that is exactly what appealed to him. When he surprised the old master at the house concert with the fruits of his labors, he called him the greatest composer he knew. In competition for the favor of cello-loving Friedrich Wilhelm II, the friendly geniuses with their »Prussian Quartets« were soon to bring even more great moments to the genre.
