Petitgirard - Guru - Iris' scene

This is an outstanding work by Laurent Petitgirard to the libretto by Xavier Maurel, directed by Damian Cruden, artistic director of  York Theater Royal .
The world premiere of the work took place at the Castle Opera - on September 28, 2018. The composer himself stood behind the conductor's stand during this extraordinary event. The cast of soloists includes celebrities of the world's opera houses, incl. Dutch bass Huub Claessens, French tenor Paul Gaugler and actress Sonia Petrovna.

The Guru Opera   is a look at the last days of a sect led by a possessed leader. Initially, his intention was to deprive his faithful of their property. But the Guru begins to believe in his supernatural power, he wants to be a savior, a prophet. The demon leader begins preparations for the great "journey" that will allow the followers to meet in the disembodied realm. Only one woman, Marie, who has recently been admitted to the sect, resists. Using common sense in the face of mass insanity, he definitely stands out from the crowd.
