Met zijn levendige Hongaarse dansen neemt Johannes Brahms ons mee naar het charmante plattelandsleven in Hongarije. De volksmuziek van het land was een onuitputtelijke bron van inspiratie voor tal van componisten. Maar al hebben Brahms’ melodieën een volkse toets, toch zijn ze van eigen makelij. Net als veel romantische tijdgenoten voegde hij een exotisch tintje toe aan de bestaande symfonische traditie. Ook Béla Bartók keerde terug naar de wortels van de Hongaarse muziek. Anders dan bij Brahms schuurt zijn muziek wel eens: het was hem precies te doen om de bijzonderheden van de volksmuziek. Bartók combineert verfijning en een brute stijl tot een spetterend spel van klanken. Een bruisend, energiek programma voor een heerlijk begin van de zondag.

With his vibrant Hungarian dances, Johannes Brahms transports us to the charming countryside of Hungary. The country's folk music served as an endless source of inspiration for numerous composers. Although Brahms' melodies carry a folk touch, they are uniquely his own. Like many Romantic contemporaries, he infused an exotic flair into the symphonic tradition. Béla Bartók also delved into the roots of Hungarian music. Unlike Brahms, his music occasionally grates, aiming to capture the peculiarities of folk music. Bartók blends refinement and a raw style into a dazzling interplay of sounds. A lively, energetic program for a delightful Sunday kickoff.

Avec ses Danses Hongroises animées, Johannes Brahms nous emmène dans la charmante vie rurale de la Hongrie. La musique folklorique du pays était une source inépuisable d'inspiration pour de nombreux compositeurs. Mais bien que les mélodies de Brahms aient une touche populaire, elles sont néanmoins de sa propre création. Tout comme beaucoup de ses contemporains romantiques, il a ajouté une touche exotique à la tradition symphonique existante. Béla Bartók est également revenu aux racines de la musique hongroise. Contrairement à Brahms, sa musique est parfois discordante : il cherchait précisément les particularités de la musique folklorique. Bartók combine raffinement et un style brut pour créer un jeu éclatant de sonorités. Un programme vibrant et énergique pour un début de dimanche délicieux.
