On the stage of NOVAT - the world premiere of the opera "The Kid and Carlson" by the St. Petersburg composer Anton Gladkikh to a libretto by Yevgeny Fridman.

“Our play is about a dream. About childhood, when everything was possible! As a child, each of us knew how to dream, and in his dreams he was carried away far up. As a child, we discovered thousands of worlds, plowed the vast space and visited hundreds of planets. With age, flying becomes more and more difficult, but it is so important to remain a child and not lose the feeling of height and freedom. The dialogue between Malysh and Karlson is a dialogue between childhood and adulthood, practically a dialogue with oneself, "- Vyacheslav Starodubtsev, stage director.

Carlson, a charming red-haired bully, mischievous and very self-confident "man in his prime," is able to cheer and make even the saddest person laugh. He appears in the Kid's life just when the boy would need to cheer up a little and ... play pranks! Blow up the steam engine once or twice. Escaping home and flying to an unfamiliar roof is as easy as shelling pears. Dressing up as a ghost, scaring local bandits, stealing buns - these are the best things to do when your friend is Carlson. And let the family consider him only a fiction, a fantasy, they are mistaken, you will see!

The opera "The Kid and Carlson" was written in 2021 based on the Astrid Lindgren trilogy especially for the Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet Theater. The music was composed by the Petersburg composer Anton Gladkikh - a member of the Union of Composers of Russia, the author of numerous orchestral, chamber, vocal compositions performed by Russian ensembles and foreign performers in Finland, Holland, Belgium, Ukraine and various cities of Russia. The libretto of the opera was written by Evgeny Fridman, a writer, poet, playwright, musicals and operas based on the libretto and plays of which were staged in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Saratov and Germany. The bright costumes for the opera "The Kid and Carlson" were invented by Elena Oleinik, and the cozy rooftops of Stockholm came to life thanks to the scenery of Timur Gulyaev.
