Das Bayerische Staatsballett brachte La Bayadère 1998 als deutsche Erstaufführung in einer Inszenierung des französischen Choreographen Patrice Bart und des japanischen Bühnen- und Kostümbildners Tomio Mohri heraus. Zu sehen sind unter anderem der berühmte 'Schattenakt', das opulente Defilee im Verlobungsfest sowie zahlreiche Pantomimenszenen, die nach der originalen Fassung von Marius Petipa einstudiert wurden. Unübersehbar mit dem Ballettklassiker verbunden ist die Faszination des 19. Jahrhunderts an außereuropäischen Erzählungen und Darstellungen. Im Vordergrund der Münchner Fassung steht der märchenhafte Charakter der Handlung.

The Bayerisches Staatsballett staged the German premiere of La Bayadère in 1998 in a production by French choreographer Patrice Bart and Japanese set and costume designer Tomio Mohri. Part of the production are the famous 'Shadow Act', the opulent Defilee in the Engagement Feast or the numerous pantomime scenes after the original version by Marius Petipa. The 19th century fascination with non-European narratives and representations is unmistakably linked to this ballet classic. In the foreground of the Munich version is the fairy-tale character of the plot.
