"Cinderella or the Triumph of Goodwill" is a two-act comic opera drama by Giocchino Rossini. The libretto by Jacopo Ferretti follows the plot of the fairy tale of the same name by Charles Perrault. Rossini was 25 years old when he wrote "Cinderella", but he already has a series of opera pearls behind him, such as "The Barber of Seville", "Tancredi", "The Italian in Algeria" and others. of the most exquisite scores for vocals and ensemble. Rossini had to compose it in just 3 weeks, so he used the ready-made overture from the Herald, one of his previous opera buffs, as well as part of an aria in The Barber of Seville. The audience rather sluggishly accepted the premiere of "Cinderella" on January 25, 1817 at the Teatro Valle in Rome. But soon after, the opera became very popular in both Europe and the United States. Moreover, Cinderella has been contesting the Seville Barber Championship for most of the 19th century. In the 1960s, Rossini's music enjoyed a real renaissance.

The staging of "Cinderella" in 2018 with an international team is the first in the history of Varna Opera.
