Director Gábor Tompa said in connection with the presentation: “The two single-act, The Shepherd's Clock and The Child and Magic, are also close to me in terms of genre, because they are special appearances of a dramaturgy in Feydeau. The Shepherd is practically grotesque vaudeville while there are many autobiographical elements in it, while The Child and Magic is a kind of surreal vision. I tried to bring the two operas together so that they would somehow be the child's vision and dream. ”

 

György Selmeczi , the conductor of the performance, said: “Ravel is a cornerstone of French music culture. It’s no coincidence that we’re considered the greatest master of orchestration, he really immerses himself in an almost gourmet way of accumulating tonal variety. Ravel is a real geometry, obsessed with structural symmetry. ”
