By the age of 18, most people party excessively or try to get their hormone levels under control. Certainly Mozart, too, but on top of that he's on the move in the sunniest A major at this age and without further ado raises the subject of symphony to a whole new level. Wolfgang Amadeus doesn't need a lot of instruments for a variety of colors. Whether finely woven in many voices or as a powerfully dramatic surge of energy: KV 201 from the pen of the highly talented teenager is the perfect date between transparent chamber music and rousing symphonic music.

Not only Mozart's operas, but also around fifty concert arias prove that his love for human voices is no less. But only in one of them does he also plan to include a piano, which he then plays himself at the premiere. Well, what doesn't one do when one is madly in love with the young singer who is about to leave the city of Vienna. A heartbreakingly beautiful farewell scene: »Do not worry, O beloved one, this heart is yours forever.«

Joseph Haydn and England? That was love at first sight. And during his second stay on that island in Haydn fever, the acclaimed man put on perhaps the most spectacular concert of his career. As a final highlight, he brings a musical emotional roller coaster ride to the podium: Scena di Berenice. Intimate longing, raging desperation, stirring passion - technical and emotional big alarm for mezzo-soprano. But of course the orchestra has to go through all of this with Haydn as well. "Why don't you kill me, you torments of my heart?"

Mit 18 gehen die meisten exzessiv feiern oder versuchen, ihren Hormonhaushalt in den Griff zu kriegen. Mozart bestimmt auch, obendrein aber ist er in diesem Alter in sonnigstem A-Dur unterwegs und hebt das Fachgebiet Sinfonie kurzerhand auf ein ganz neues Level. Für abwechslungsreiche Farbenvielfalt braucht Wolfgang Amadeus gar nicht viele Instrumente. Ob vielstimmig fein verwoben oder als kraftvoll dramatischer Energieschub: KV 201 aus der Feder des hochbegabten Teenagers ist das perfekte Date zwischen durchsichtiger Kammermusik und mitreißender Sinfonik.

Dass seine Liebe den menschlichen Stimmen kein bisschen weniger gilt, beweisen nicht nur Mozarts Opern, sondern auch rund fünfzig Konzertarien. Aber nur in einer einzigen plant er obendrein ein Klavier mit ein, das er bei der Uraufführung dann auch höchstpersönlich spielt. Tja, was tut man nicht alles, wenn man heftig in die junge Sängerin verliebt ist, die gerade vorhat, die Stadt Wien zu verlassen. Eine herzzerreißend schöne Abschiedsszene: »Sorge nicht, o Vielgeliebter, dies Herz ist auf ewig dein.«

Und bei seinem zweiten Aufenthalt auf jener Insel im Haydn-Fieber veranstaltet der Umjubelte das vielleicht spektakulärste Konzert seiner Karriere. Als finales Highlight bringt er eine musikalische Gefühls-Achterbahnfahrt aufs Podium: Scena di Berenice. Innige Sehnsucht, wütende Verzweiflung, aufwühlende Leidenschaft – technischer und emotionaler Großalarm für Mezzosopran. Aber natürlich muss das Orchester bei Haydn dies alles ebenso durchleben. »Warum tötet ihr mich nicht, ihr Qualen meines Herzens?«
