The husband is seriously ill, but has kept silent about it. A snapshot grows into an intoxicating encounter in which a couple examines what their love was and is. They both wrestle with and about language until they finally leave. The Austrian composer Georg Friedrich Haas and the Austrian librettist Händl Klaus transferred this extreme human situation to the cast in their opera Liebesgesang : You can only see and hear a singer - with nothing but their voices. It is an attempt to create an intensely intimate experience by exploring the possibilities of musical theater.
