Lucia di Lammermoor debuted in Naples in 1835. Donizetti was at the height of his fame and without Italian opponents: Rossini had retired, Bellini was dead, Verdi was 22 years old. Romantic Europe was enchanted by the terrifying story of the Scottish girl who, in love with Edgardo and forced to marry Arturo, stabbed her husband to death on the wedding night!

The opera includes very popular numbers, but the «Cena da Madness» is, however, the most awaited moment. His most stellar interpreter in São Carlos was Adelina Patti, in 1863.

Marigona Qerkezi, born in Zagreb, has performed very successfully in the role since she debuted in 2017. Edgardo's death is also a big moment for the tenor. Luís Gomes, with important triumphs in the lyrical repertoire on some of the most important stages in the world, chose to sing it at the Operália Final Gala in 2018. Alfonso Romero Mora, born in Madrid, made his directorial debut in 2003 with La Voix Humaine de Poulenc and returns to our theater after the successful production of Faust , in 2022.

Lucia di Lammermoor estreou em Nápoles em 1835. Donizetti estava no auge da fama e sem adversários italianos: Rossini retirara-se, Bellini morrera, Verdi tinha 22 anos. A Europa romântica encantou-se com a terrífica história da rapariga escocesa que, apaixonada por Edgardo e forçada a casar com Arturo, assassinou à facada, na noite nupcial, o marido imposto!

A ópera inclui números muito populares, mas a «Cena da Loucura» é, porém, o momento sempre mais esperado. A sua mais estelar intérprete em São Carlos terá sido Adelina Patti, em 1863.

Rita Marques estreia-se no papel titular, juntando-se a um conjunto de grandes cantoras portuguesas que interpretaram o papel. A morte de Edgardo é também um grande momento para o tenor. Luís Gomes, com importantes triunfos no repertório lírico em alguns dos mais importantes palcos do mundo, escolheu cantá-la na Gala Final da Operália em 2018. Alfonso Romero Mora, natural de Madrid, estreou-se como encenador em 2003 com La Voix Humaine de Poulenc e regressa ao nosso teatro depois da bem-sucedida produção de Faust, em 2022
