The concert opens with Symphony no. 2 in B flat major, initially ascribed to the catalog of the works of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, but probably written by his father, Leopold. Three pieces by some of Johann Sebastian Bach's sons are presented to provide a comparison with Mozart's work and to show the origin and influence in the style. These are the Symphony op. 3 no. 5 in F major W C5 by Johann Christian Bach, who moved to London where he composed arias and operettas "in Neapolitan style"; the Symphony for strings in G major H.648 by Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach, harpsichord accompanist of Frederick II of Prussia; and finally the Symphony for Strings in D minor WF I:3 by Johann Christoph Friedrich Bach, known for his fugal style. To end the concert, the Symphony n. 42 in F major K 75, composed in 1771, in which the previous pieces resonate as lessons learned and put to good use.
