Orfeo ed Euridice

One of the most poignant and profound stories in the dramatic repertoire since Greek mythology: Eurydice, stung by a snake, is propelled into hell; Orpheus the poet charms the gods to bring her back to life, but on the way back he turns around, which was forbidden by the gods… and Eurydice will not leave these accursed hells. The survival of love ends in failure, loss becomes the destiny of lovers, subsequently opening the way, according to the different endings proposed by the authors and composers who have appropriated the myth, to the theme of the second chance. 

The company Miroirs Étendus revisits Gluck's opera with a score for five performers and eight musicians with sound, adapted by Othman Louati, in a staging by Thomas Bouvet between real and unreal, in an in-between specific to the Greek underworld. 

Thus, this adaptation is both a tribute to Gluck's score and a look at the limbo that colors the mourning of Orpheus. On its path shrouded in nocturnal reflections, the light of the classic style and its own modernity confront each other.

L’une des plus poignantes et profondes histoires du répertoire dramatique depuis la mythologie grecque : Eurydice, piquée par un serpent, est propulsée aux enfers ; Orphée le poète charme les dieux pour la ramener à la vie, mais sur le chemin du retour il se retourne, ce qui était proscrit par les dieux… et Eurydice ne quittera pas ces enfers maudits. La survivance de l’amour se solde par un échec, la perte devient le destin des amants, ouvrant par la suite la voie, selon les différentes fins qu’en ont proposé les auteurs et compositeurs qui se sont emparés du mythe, au thème de la seconde chance. 

La compagnie Miroirs Étendus revisite l’opéra de Gluck avec une partition pour cinq interprètes et huit musiciens sonorisés, adaptée par Othman Louati, dans une mise en scène de Thomas Bouvet entre réel et irréel, dans un entre-deux propre aux enfers grecs. 

Ainsi, cette adaptation se veut à la fois un hommage à la partition de Gluck et un regard sur les limbes qui teintent le deuil d’Orphée. Sur son chemin nimbé de reflets nocturnes, se confrontent la lumière du style classique et sa propre modernité.
