Am Ende sind zwei Kinder tot. Die aktuelle Inszenierung von Stefan Herheim beschäftigt sich mit der von Stuart Skelton verkörperten Rolle des Peter Grimes als universellem Außenseiter. Mit Benjamin Brittens Musik entstehen durch die von Dirigent Edward Gardner beschriebenen Interludes raue Stimmungsbilder eines englischen Küstendorfs. Doch wer ist letztlich schuld an allem? Wir wissen es nicht. Nur der Mob auf der Bühne hat sein „Gerüchtsurteil“ längst gefällt. . . . OBSERVATIONS: PETER GRIMES - Behind the scenes The great ship of opera is currently navigating through stormy times. While the waves of shitstorms are rising in the outside world, there is Peter Grimes on stage. In the end, two children are dead. Stefan Herheim's current production deals with the role of Peter Grimes, embodied by Stuart Skelton, as the universal outsider. With Benjamin Britten's music, rough atmospheric images of an English coastal village are created through the interludes described by conductor Edward Gardner. But who is ultimately to blame for it all? We don't know. Only the mob on stage has already made its "rumor judgment.",
