Pour s’associer à l’esprit universel des Jeux Olympiques, quoi de mieux qu’un concert où se retrouvent côte à côte des œuvres de compositeurs français, anglais et allemand ? Et ici, sans compétition, il va sans dire…

« Citius, altius, fortius » : plus vite, plus haut, plus fort. Telle était la devise que Pierre de Coubertin imaginait pour les Jeux Olympiques des temps modernes. En cette année où la France les accueille de nouveau, il était important pour nous de nous associer à ce grand événement sportif et humain. Pierre Ruscher nous propose pour l’occasion, en création mondiale, son Citius Altius Fortius, dont le nom dit assez le lien avec l’événement sportif qui nous attend. Outre cette création, ce concert nous permettra aussi de retrouver l’un des violonistes que le monde nous envie, Renaud Capuçon, dans le si justement célèbre Concerto pour violon de Mendelssohn. Quant aux Variations Enigma, quelle meilleure manière de rendre hommage à la musique de nos amis d’OutreManche ?

To join in with the universal spirit of the Olympic Games, what could be better than a concert where works by French, English and German composers stand side by side? And here, without competition, it goes without saying …

"Citius, altius, fortius": faster, higher, stronger. This was the motto that Pierre de Coubertin envisioned for the modern Olympic Games. This year, as France welcomes the games once more, it was important for us to join in with this great sporting and human event. For the occasion, Pierre Ruscher offers us the world première of his Citius Altius Fortius, whose name alone hints at the work's link with this great sporting event. As well as revealing its première, this concert will also allow us to rediscover one of our best violinists, Renaud Capuçon, in Medelssohn's (quite deservedly) famous Violin concerto. As for the Enigma Variations, what better way to pay tribute to the music of our friends from across the Channel?
