Vocal / Song cycle
Christoph Prégardien is the heir of great liedersänger such as Häfliger or Schreier. In 2019, the tenor delivered us an anthology Schubertian Winter Journey. We will find him again with pleasure. His art of diction and musical subtlety will work wonders in these two major Schumann cycles. It is to Schubert that Schumann takes up the torch of cycles composed like collections drawing from the source of a single author, the lied passing from the miniature to a dramaturgical and cosmogonic construction. In Liederkreis Op. 39, Eichendorff's meditations on nature become an intuition of the invisible forces of the universe. The famous Diechterlibe Op. 48 (The Loves of the Poet) from Heine, manifests both Schumann's joy at his upcoming marriage to the young Clara Wieck, and the prescience of his own tragic end.
