Bringing together traditions of Indian and Western Classical music “Showcases the classical music of the subcontinent but also mixes, melds and modernises it.” Financial Times Leeds born sitarist, Jasdeep Singh Degun, is one of Britan’s leading voices in the Indian Classical tradition. His music complements the ancient traditions of raags with contemporary compositional techniques to create sparklingly cinematic music for sitar and strings. In this collaborative concert, Scottish Ensemble’s musicians and Jasdeep will spin a musical tale, driven by the beautiful spontaneity of the Indian Classical tradition, transporting you through layers of mesmerising melody. As well as the world premiere of a new work by Jasdeep, we feature excerpts from his Anomaly album, and works by Terry Riley and Hildegard von Bingen.
