Enjoy Esther Yoo play Jean Sibelius’ “Suite For Violin and String Orchestra, Op. 117”. 

Yoo, who just recently joined the Deutsche Grammophon family, releases her debut album presenting works by Sibelius and Glazunov in February 2016. On her album she is accompanied by the Philharmonia Orchestra under the baton of Vladimir Ashkenazy.

Sibelius himself once said “When I play the violin, it is as though the insides of the music opened up to me.” So it is no surprise that his only violin concerto is a masterpiece featuring lush melodies and sweeping movements, perfectly blending drama and technical virtuosity.

The Strad described Esther Yoo as “the model of a violin soloist in the modern age. Intelligent, articulate and self-possessed, she is so much more than a technical virtuoso.”

Prokofiev described his Fifth Symphony as “a hymn to free and happy Man, to his mighty powers, his pure and noble spirit.”
