Za sedmi koncert letošnje Kromatike smo k sodelovanju povabili dva izvrstna madžarska glasbenika. Mladi dirigent Martin Rajna je leta 2021 prevzel mesto šefa dirigenta Filharmoničnega orkestra iz Györa, prav tako pa redno gostuje v Madžarski državni Operi, kjer je lani izvedel Verdijevega Rigoletta in Leharjevo Veselo vdovo, ter pri Madžarskem narodnem filharmoničnem orkestru. Študiral je na budimpeški Lisztovi akademiji, nato pa še na Lisztovi glasbeni univerzi v Weimarju. Leta 2021 je bil izbran v izobraževalni program Fundacije Pétra Eötvösa za sodobno glasbo, kjer so bili njegovi mentorji poleg Pétra Eötvösa tudi György Kurtág, Fabián Panisello in Magnus Lindberg.

Po izvedbi uverture k tragediji Coriolan Heinricha Josepha von Collina, enega najpogosteje izvajanih Beethovnovih koncertnih del, se mu bo na odru pridružil rojak Tamás Varga. Ta izvrstni glasbenik deluje hkrati kot prvi violončelist Dunajskih filharmonikov in prvi violončelist Orkestra Dunajske državne Opere. Dejaven je tudi kot komorni glasbenik in solist, del njegovega opusa pa predstavlja tudi baročna glasba, ki jo izvaja na avtentičnih glasbilih. Posnel je na primer tudi celotne Bachove suite za violončelo solo. Tokrat se bo predstavil kot solist v Prvem koncertu za violončelo Dmitrija Šostakoviča, velikega ruskega skladatelja, čigar ustvarjalnosti ni zatrl niti do njega nenaklonjeni sovjetski režim.

Po premoru se vračamo k opusu velikega Ludwiga van Beethovna. Izvedli bomo Drugo simfonijo, enega zadnjih del iz njegovega zgodnjega, mladostnega obdobja. Mladostni duh veje tudi iz dejstva, da je elegantni menuet, standardni tretji stavek simfonije, Beethoven tukaj nadomestil z energičnim scherzem.

For the seventh concert of this year's Kromatika, we invited two excellent Hungarian musicians to participate. In 2021, the young conductor Martin Rajna took over the position of chief conductor of the Philharmonic Orchestra from Györ, and he is also a regular guest at the Hungarian State Opera, where he performed Verdi's Rigoletto and Lehar's Merry Widow last year, and with the Hungarian National Philharmonic Orchestra. He studied at the Liszt Academy in Budapest and then at the Liszt University of Music in Weimar. In 2021, he was selected for the educational program of the Pétro Eötvös Foundation for Contemporary Music, where, in addition to Pétro Eötvös, György Kurtág, Fabián Panisello and Magnus Lindberg were his mentors.

After performing the Overture to the Coriolan tragedy by Heinrich Joseph von Collin, one of Beethoven's most frequently performed concert works, he will be joined on stage by compatriot Tamás Varga. This excellent musician works simultaneously as first cellist of the Vienna Philharmonic and first cellist of the Orchestra of the Vienna State Opera. He is also active as a chamber musician and soloist, and baroque music, which he performs on authentic instruments, is part of his oeuvre. For example, he also recorded the entire Bach suites for cello solo. This time he will perform as a soloist in the First Cello Concerto of Dmitri Shostakovich, a great Russian composer whose creativity was not suppressed even by the hostile Soviet regime.

After a break, we return to the opus of the great Ludwig van Beethoven. We will perform the Second Symphony, one of the last works from his early, youthful period. The youthful spirit also stems from the fact that Beethoven here replaced the elegant minuet, the standard third movement of the symphony, with an energetic scherzo.
