STURM UND DRANG-SYMFONIER AF KOZELUCH, KRAUS OG MOZART

”Sturm & Drang” var en kort periode i Europa omkring 1760-1780, som indeholdt et ungdommeligt og nærmest "præ-romantisk" oprør mod oplysningstidens dyrkelse af rationalitet og empirisk viden. Især litteraturen var præget af de store, irrationelle og tøjlesløse følelser – som i Goethes ”Den unge Werthers lidelser” – men også nogle af datidens komponister gav følelserne frit løb.

Den unge Mozarts fyrige Symfoni i g-mol – kendt af mange fra åbningsscenen i filmen "Amadeus” fra 1984 – er hovedværket ved denne koncert. Foruden Mozart præsenteres storslåede, dystre og dramatiske symfonier af svensk-tyske Joseph Martin Kraus og tjekkiske Leopold Kozeluch.

STURM UND DRANG SYMPHONIES BY KOZELUCH, KRAUS AND MOZART

"Sturm & Drang" was a brief period in Europe around 1760-1780 that contained a youthful and almost "pre-romantic" rebellion against the Enlightenment's worship of rationality and empirical knowledge. Literature in particular was marked by the great, irrational and unbridled emotions - as in Goethe's The Sorrows of Young Werther - but some composers of the time also gave free rein to these feelings.

The young Mozart's fiery Symphony in G minor, familiar to many from the opening scene of the 1984 film Amadeus, is the main work at this concert. In addition to Mozart, grand, sombre and dramatic symphonies by Swedish-German Joseph Martin Kraus and Czech Leopold Kozeluch are presented.
