The Irish Baroque Orchestra is regarded as Ireland's leading ensemble specializing in historically informed performance of the highest standards throughout Ireland and beyond. Under the artistic direction of Peter Whelan, scholarship and musical excellence are uniquely connected in the activities of the IBO, creating an offer that no other organization on the Irish art music scene has, whereby the integration of research and practice has redefined the very idea of ​​an orchestra, offering a new experience to a contemporary audience.
An ambassador of Ireland's musical past, the IBO uses its unique perspective to create a growing body of knowledge about the music of Ireland from the Baroque and Classical periods. IBO's research, recordings and performances offer their environment a new opportunity to re-examine and re-accept their own cultural heritage without bypassing the diaspora to which they are accessible thanks to growing globalization. And Handel's Messiah - the highlight of the annual tour in the IBO calendar - is part of the cultural life of Dublin in 1742.
In 2019, the orchestra released a recording called Welcome Home Mr Dubourg on Linn Records, which was featured in the Irish Times and on BBC Radio 3 and received positive reviews across Europe. The next album, The Trials of Tenducci with Irish soprano Tara Erraught, immediately reached the top of the iTunes classical music chart in Ireland after its release in March 2021. Positive reviews came from all over the world, especially from magazines such as Gramophone Magazine, France Musique and BR Klassik. In February 2022, IBO made his acclaimed debut at the Linbury Theatre, Royal Opera House in London in Vivaldi's Bajazet, a co-production of Irish National Opera and the Royal Opera House. And immediately won the Olivier Award for Outstanding Achievement in Opera.
The IBO is dedicated to developing historically informed performance in Ireland and works with a number of partner organizations across the country to ensure its continued growth. It enables students to work intensively on the style elements of certain periods, and its "apprentice" scheme supports them in their first professional steps. In the educational portfolio of the IBO, the "shoulder-to-shoulder" program that it recently developed with the Royal Irish Academy of Music, as well as a new baroque string instrument course intended for adult participants - amateurs, is key.
IBO is generously funded by the Arts Council/An Chomhairle Ealaíon, and receives financial support from Dublin City Council and Culture Ireland. The orchestra has its own collection of old instruments purchased with the support of the Arts Council and the Department of Arts and Heritage and the Gaeltacht. He is a resident of the National Concert Hall in Dublin, and since 2021 a member of the Réseau Européen de Musique Ancienne (European Network for Early Music).


Winner of the Dame Joan Sutherland Audience Award at the BBC's Singer of the World 2019 competition in Cardiff, British mezzo-soprano Katie Brayshe is known for her magnetic appearance on stage and bright expressive tone. She performs in various opera houses, so her recent roles at Opera North include Ivica in Ivica and Marica, Rosina in The Barber of Seville, Barbara in Katja Kabanova, Louis XV Chair/Cat/Owl in The Boy and Spells, Lola in Cavalleria rusticani and Nancy in Albert Herring. In the Irish National Opera she performed the title role in Vivaldi's Griselda, in the English National Opera as the Daughter in Akhnaten and Homecoming, in the Scottish Opera as Lucilla in The Silk Stairs, in the Welsh National Opera as Zerlina in Don Giovanni, in the Holland Park Opera as Mallika in Lakmé, in the English Touring Opera as Zenobia in Radamist, Minerva in The Return of Odysseus, Satirino in Calisto. At the Grimeborn Opera Festival she performed as Charlotte in Werther, at Garsington she performs as Zulma in The Italian Woman in Algeria, Zaida in The Turk in Italy and Isolier in Count Ory. She also recently performed in the Gate Theatre's staged cabaret of songs banned by the Nazis, Faces of Vice, in association with English National Opera.
Equally at home on the stage, Katie Bray performs in prestigious venues such as Wigmore Hall, Cadogan Hall and Holywell Music Room. She regularly appears at the English Song Festival in London, where she conducts concerts in the Wilton concert hall, as well as at the Lieder Festival in Oxford, for which she recorded a soundtrack with Schumann's solo songs accompanied by Sholto Kynoch. Other recent projects include the half-stage version of Wolf's Italian Collection with Christopher Glynn and Roderick Williams at Milton Court Concert Hall and Ryedale Festival, and the premiere of the new monodrama Frida with the East London Music Group.
She is especially appreciated as an interpreter of the baroque repertoire, so she performed with ensembles such as the Barokksolistene under the direction of Bjarte Eike, the Monteverdi Choir under the direction of Sir John Eliot Gardiner, La Nuova Musica, Ludus Baroque, the London Handel Orchestra under the direction of Laurence Cummings, the Wroclaw Baroque Orchestra and Spira Mirabilis. She also performed with orchestras such as Britten Sinfonia, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Orchester Chambre de Paris and Aalborg Symfoniorkester.
Recent and future engagements include concerts at the Lieder Festival in Oxford, Viardot200 Festival and with the Irish Baroque Orchestra, with the BBC Welsh National Orchestra and Jac van Steen, the Scottish Chamber Orchestra and Peter Whelan, in the Messiah for the Hallé Orchestra, Beethoven's 9. symphony with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra at the Barbican and a role at the Garsington Opera's festival in 2023.
She graduated in opera singing at the Royal Academy of Music as a scholarship holder of the Karaviotis Foundation and was the winner of the Richard Lewis Singing Competition in 2011, which the academy organizes for its students.


Harpsichord and organist, Tom Fosterhe performs both as a soloist and as a continuo performer, and his performances are characterized by "shining virtuosity" (The Spectator). Appreciated as a sensitive and inventive continuo performer, he is the principal keyboard player of The English Concert ensemble and a regular guest with ensembles such as The Academy of Ancient Music, Arcangelo, The Dunedin Consort, Early Opera Company, The Mahler Chamber Orchestra, The Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, The Scottish Ensemble and The Sixteen. These collaborations have taken him to concert halls across Europe, the USA, Australia, Russia and South Korea. He performed as a soloist at the Edinburgh International Festival, and made his US debut with a recital at Carnegie Hall in 2020. He began his musical education in the boys' choir at Manchester Cathedral, and then as a pianist and harpsichordist at Chetham's School of Music. He received his bachelor's degree (BA) in music at St. Catherine's College in Oxford, and a second degree (MA) at the Royal Academy of Music under the guidance of Trevor Pinnock.

U izdanju Linn Recordsa orkestar je 2019. objavio nosač zvuka pod nazivom Welcome Home Mr Dubourg koji je predstavljen u Irish Timesu i na BBC Radio 3 te je naišao na pozitivne kritike diljem Europe. Diplomirala je operno pjevanje na Kraljevskoj muzičkoj akademiji kao stipendistica Zaklade Karaviotis te je pobjednica Pjevačkog natjecanja Richard Lewis 2011. godine što ga akademija organizira za svoje studente.


Čembalist i orguljaš, Tom Foster podjednako nastupa kao solist i izvoditelj continua, a njegove izvedbe odlikuje „blistavi virtuozitet” (The Spectator). Cijenjen kao senzibilan i inventivan izvoditelj continua, glavni je svirač na instrumentima s tipkama ansambla The English Concert i redovni gost ansambala kao što su The Academy of Ancient Music, Arcangelo, The Dunedin Consort, Early Opera Company, The Mahler Chamber Orchestra, The Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, The Scottish Ensemble i The Sixteen.
