"Bring on the myth, the sagas and heroic songs! We need metaphors from the most varied of creation stories, the endless cycle of the fall and rise of civilizations. "
The Icelandic artist Anna Rún Tryggvadóttir and the director Thorleifur Örn Arnarsson have nothing less in mind when they embark on a search for collective origins with their interdisciplinary project of acting, musical theater, visual arts, dance, video art, science and creative technologies. A process-like, research hybrid at the interface of the arts, based on Wagner's Der Ring des Nibelungen , among other things . In doing so, they question the idea of a German mythology that has become a national and ethnic cultural history. The complex, barely understandable metaphorical system, consisting of the Edda , the Nibelungenlied and Nordic sagas are being tapped by the artist: innenduo for a new understanding of these stories in a collective sense.
During the documenta fifteen, with their very own Temple of Alternative Histories , they examine culturally defining works from our educational canon from a wide variety of perspectives and embark on a process-based search to create an alternative narrative of the relationship between man and nature in fragile times.
The Icelandic Thorleifur Örn Arnarsson is known for his visually stunning theatrical language. He was honored, among other things, in the magazine Theater heute for the production of the year and with the German theater prize DER FAUST. Anna Rún Tryggvadóttir will create landscape installations that she will develop together with the renowned cameraman Frank Lamm in Iceland and Germany. The latter is known for projects such as Deutschstunde , Bad Banks and The Crown . He is currently working in London on the new Star Wars series from Lucasfilm. Let's go on a fabulous journey around the world.
