The musical about the extraterrestrial plant that wants to take over the world, which premiered in 1982, is based on the B-movie of the same name by Roger Corman from 1960. And composer Alan Menken in particular picked up on this origin and added a few indestructible uptempo in the best Motown style Soul numbers and soulful ballads like Downtown , Im Grünen somewhere or Gib's mir wrote, which are among the most popular musical songs in the world.
