From the famous ballet composed by Tchaikovsky in 1890, Marcos Morau has taken a daring reinterpretation: a meditation on duration, where Sleeping Beauty becomes the allegory of our relationship to time. The choreographer's abundant visual universe revisits the princess' sleep in an impetuous and unbridled procession.

What can the tale of Sleeping Beauty – and the Ballet that Tchaikovsky made from it in 1890 – tell us today? What would Princess Aurora discover if she awoke from her long slumber in our time? Attracted by the diversion of the imagination, Marcos Morau condensed the material of the tale to focus on the dilation of time; imagining a paradoxical non-place, a vortex modifying space-time, he designed a show for fifteen dancers reflecting our reality. Using all the resources of theater and dance, Sleeping Beauty carves out a meticulous visual universe; a fluctuating space-time, populated by ghost images, where the organic mixes with the geometric, the abstraction with the incarnation. Between illusion and reality, thisSleeping Beauty forms “a procession, unstoppable, frantic, chaotic”, populated by mysterious figures.

Du célèbre ballet composé par Tchaïkovski en 1890, Marcos Morau a tiré relecture audacieuse : une méditation sur la durée, où la Belle au bois dormant devient l’allégorie de notre rapport au temps. L’univers visuel foisonnant du chorégraphe revisite le sommeil de la princesse dans une procession impétueuse et débridée.

Qu’est-ce que le conte de La Belle au bois dormant – et le Ballet que Tchaïkovski en a tiré en 1890 – peuvent nous raconter aujourd’hui ? Que découvrirait la princesse Aurora si elle s’éveillait de son long sommeil à notre époque ? Attiré par le détournement de l’imaginaire, Marcos Morau a condensé le matériau du conte pour se concentrer sur la dilatation du temps ; imaginant un non-lieu paradoxal, un vortex modifiant l’espace-temps, il a conçu un spectacle pour quinze danseurs réfléchissant notre réalité. Utilisant toutes les ressources du théâtre et de la danse, La Belle au bois dormant cisèle un univers visuel méticuleux ; un espace-temps fluctuant, peuplé d’images fantômes, où l’organique se mêle au géométrique, l’abstraction à l’incarnation. Entre illusion et réalité, cette Belle au bois dormant forme « un cortège, imparable, effréné, chaotique », peuplé de figures mystérieuses.
