What don't you do for a job? Michael Dorsey is an actor, not a simple character, no longer the very youngest - and therefore has not been seen on a New York stage for a long time. So that this finally changes, in his desperation he goes to a musical casting disguised as a woman and actually gets the coveted role. But that's just where the problems begin, because there's also his neurotic on-off girlfriend Sandy, the chauvinistic director Ron, the bullshit reality star Max, the attractive colleague Julie ... and last but not least the new alter ego: Dorothy Michaels !

Since 1982, Sydney Pollack's wonderfully funny travesty comedy »Tootsie« (= »Schnuckelchen«) has been enchanting about the absurdities of show business, dealing with gender roles and a man who only becomes a better guy as a woman - on the screen and on the screens. In 2018, the »Oscar«-winning classic with Dustin Hoffman in a star role was transformed into a rousing musical comedy by David Yazbek and Robert Horn, which was the Broadway success of 2019 and which the Gärtnerplatztheater is now bringing exclusively to Munich as a European premiere!

Was tut man(n) nicht alles für einen Job? Michael Dorsey ist Schauspieler, kein einfacher Charakter, nicht mehr der Allerjüngste – und daher schon seit Langem auf keiner New Yorker Bühne zu sehen gewesen. Damit sich das endlich ändert, geht er in seiner Verzweiflung als Frau verkleidet zu einem Musical-Casting und erhält tatsächlich die heiß begehrte Rolle. Doch damit fangen die Probleme gerade erst an, denn da sind auch noch seine neurotische On-Off-Freundin Sandy, der chauvinistische Regisseur Ron, der ranschmeißerische Reality-Star Max, die attraktive Kollegin Julie … und nicht zuletzt das neue Alter Ego: Dorothy Michaels!

Seit 1982 verzaubert Sydney Pollacks herrlich-lustige Travestiekomödie »Tootsie« (= »Schnuckelchen«) über die Absurditäten des Showgeschäfts, den Umgang mit Geschlechterrollen und einen Mann, der erst als Frau zum besseren Kerl wird − auf der Leinwand und an den Bildschirmen. 2018 wurde der »Oscar«-prämierte Klassiker mit Dustin Hoffman in einer Paraderolle von David Yazbek und Robert Horn in eine mitreißende Musical Comedy verwandelt, die der Broadway-Erfolg des Jahres 2019 war und die das Gärtnerplatztheater nun als Europäische Erstaufführung exklusiv nach München holt!
