Behind Schumann's Piano Concerto lies a love story. The main melody of the work is represented by Schumann's wife Clara. That even literally: Clara was called "Chiara" in Schumann's house. If one deletes the non-musical letters “i” and “r”, what remains are c, h, a, a: the first four tones of the main melody that characterizes everything. Incidentally, Johannes Brahms also dedicated a melody to Clara in the fourth movement of his first symphony, which is performed in the Brahms cycle I. Symphony No. 2 follows today: a musical pastoral that the composer completed in Baden-Baden, where the work was called “The Lichtental Symphony” for a long time.
