DEAR AUDIENCE,

We were happy to quote Franz Grillparzer for our foreword, who certifies beauty as “the perfect correspondence between the sensual and the spiritual”. Because hardly any other standard could – at best – also be used as a criterion for the realization of a successful evening at the theatre.

Ultimately, however, we stuck to Elfriede Jelinek and her vehement advocacy of keeping the theaters open in 2003. While this demand was still a matter of course at the time, the recent past has taught us painfully how quickly all cultural institutions can do this with the same degree of course Locking and locking out can be ordered. This challenging time has caused serious cuts in the entire industry. Also with us, no question! Instead of resigning ourselves to the consequences of the crisis, we want to use the opportunity to deal creatively with these experiences.

Knowing that a return to the pre-pandemic status quo will hardly be possible, we don't have to deny ourselves, but reinvent ourselves a bit. Above all, we should consciously get involved with each other again. We are convinced that your enthusiasm for culture has not suffered. And if it does, it is our goal to rekindle it. So our promise to harmonize the sensual and the spiritual in the spirit of Grillparzer also and especially applies to the offer of the coming season.

Once again, our division heads and chief conductors, together with their teams, have composed new, rare and well-established music to create a coherent program. Familiar artists and many others, who are performing for the first time on the stages of the Tiroler Landestheater, with the Tiroler Symphonieorchester Innsbruck and in the Haus der Musik Innsbruck, look forward to meeting you. Only this coming together will bring the culture we stand for back into the mainstream of society. A place, as Jelinek calls it, “where we show ourselves and where we are shown”.
