Für viele ist ein Leben ohne Bier unvorstellbar. Besonders in Bayern. Deshalb gibt es im Freistaat auch über 640 Brauereien. Bier ist Lebensmittel und Rauschmittel in einem, die beliebteste legale Droge. Sie entsteht aus einem Korn. Einem Gerstenkorn. Es wird so lange unter Wasser gedrückt, bis aus ihm die Amylase treibt. Die beiden werden getrocknet und zerrieben und gemischt und Malz genannt. Es wird zerteilt, zerschnitten, geschrotet und weiterverarbeitet, bis alles im Fass ist. In der Bieroper sehen wir das alles echt. Das Urfass brütet und brütet, bis es fünf Kinder gebiert: Alle sind Flaschen. So wie Hydros, die Ursuppe, im alten Griechenland Gaia, Tartaros, Eros, Erebos und Nyx gebar. Die Flaschen heißen aber Bud, Hein, Skol, Coor und Jup. Und sie treiben es auch gleich bunt. Am Schluss schwimmen wie immer die leeren Flaschen oben. Das ist die Mehdorn-Regel. Neben den Flaschen treten auf die Bierdose, der Maßkrug, die Biertulpe und das Bierglas. Bier führt ja leicht zu einer gewissen Enthemmung, die so Manchen Lieder oder Arien schmettern lässt, obwohl er das sonst nie tut. Das andere Ende der Skala menschlicher Verhaltensänderungen durch Bierkonsum ist der Schlaf. Der kann sogar überraschend und unvermittelt auftreten. Ja, auftreten, im wörtlichen Sinn. Die Besetzung ist wendig und schräg. Das trifft auf Darsteller*innen wie auf Musicisti zu. Hintersinniger, absurder und vor allem schwarzer Humor prägt alles: „pythonesk“ und „kafkaesk“ sind wohl die richtigen Begriffe dafür. Dadaismus, konkrete Poesie, Nonsenstexte, Wortzerlaub(er)ungen, Minimal-Music und großes Getöse fügen sich zu einer Episoden- und Nummernoper.
