For the first time, Giuseppe Verdi's masterpiece "Simon Bokanegra" is being staged at the Latvian National Opera. The title character of this opera becomes the Geneva Dodge, defeating the aristocrat Fesco in a vote, but they are both bound not only by a struggle for power, but also by a fateful woman. The opera "Simon Bokanegra" was written by Giuseppe Verdi as early as 1857, but the second edition of the work, which premiered in 1881, received special recognition from the public and critics. In the 21st century, Simon Bokanegra is increasingly appearing on the stage of opera houses. The production at the Latvian National Opera is based on the concept of Stephen Lawless 's original direction, its set designer and costume designer is Leslie Travers , and the choreographer is Lynne Hockney .). Performed by this British creative team, the performances have been successful in the world's most important operas and festivals

Pirmo reizi Latvijas Nacionālajā operā tiek iestudēts Džuzepes Verdi meistardarbs “Simons Bokanegra”. Šīs operas titulvaronis kļūst par Dženovas dodžu, balsojumā pārspējot aristokrātu Fjesko, taču viņus abus saista ne tikai cīņa par varu, bet arī kāda liktenīga sieviete.  Operu “Simons Bokanegra” Džuzepe Verdi sacerēja jau 1857. gadā, tomēr publikas un kritikas īpašu atzinību guva darba otrā redakcija, kas pirmizrādi piedzīvoja 1881. gadā. 21. gadsimtā “Simons Bokanegra” arvien biežāk parādās uz operteātru skatuvēm. Latvijas Nacionālajā operā iestudējums tapis saskaņā ar Stīvena Lolesa (Stephen Lawless) oriģinālrežijas konceptu, tā scenogrāfs un kostīmu mākslinieks ir Leslijs Traverss (Leslie Travers), bet horeogrāfe – Linne Hoknija (Lynne Hockney). Šīs britu radošās komandas veidotās izrādes guvušas panākumus nozīmīgākajos pasaules opernamos un festivālos
